Meketa is a global investment consulting firm that sought out Fusion to design their Westwood location. We transformed their new office into a space that reflects Meketa’s innovative, modern and collaborative culture while offering their employees convenient access to public transportation and other amenities. With a strong focus on wellbeing and employee experience, Meketa turned to us to guide them through relevant trends, workplace strategy and thought leadership to create a hybrid style workspace.
With an expansive window line and by designing private offices and huddle rooms to the core of the space, Meketa can offer 85% of its employee’s “window” seats to take advantage of natural light. Low panels and dividers allow light to filter through to the core spaces which are enclosed with glass to maximize natural light. Meketa desired to offer choice and flexibility, the main café is a multi-use space with the capability to offer a “town hall” experience, a working café, or a place of refuge for independent work or an easily reconfigurable space for collaboration, with easy access to the outdoors, it was also important to design outdoor lounge areas to take advantage of agreeable weather days to entice employees into the office. In addition, a second-floor coffee bar lounge was designed off the communicating stair to allow for a visual connection between the two floors.
Meketa's hybrid workstyle made huddle and meeting rooms essential to accommodate not only technology to support the hybrid worker but to offer flexibility in addition to functionality, as they grow and adapt to change within their own office needs. Every huddle space can easily turn into a private office, team meeting space, or quiet room. Adaptable furniture was key in this design. The power of choice – when to work and how to work was a common theme throughout the office design.

Northeast Bank is a full-service banking institution established in 1872. Their objective was creating a modern workplace that enhances employee experience through design of open collaborative spaces, private work areas and technology forward meeting rooms. The new location in the Seaport focused design around enhancing expansive views of the harbor. Fusion took inspiration from colors and textures in surrounding area and designed the space to maintain open window line to allow all spaces access to natural light.
As Northeast Bank has locations in multiple cities, it was important to create a sense of place. Entering reception, the Boston Seaport location is represented in a custom-designed 3-dimensional backlit map. The overall design incorporates a mix of rich materials, colors and diverse art package to create visual interest. Fusion combined modern collaborative workspaces with timeless elements. Natural wood, glass, steel and marble reflect the bank’s staying power. The natural palette with accent colors reflecting the water views creates an eco-friendly, warm, comfortable feel. The team designed spaces where employees are provided with a choice of resources and work styles.
The floorplan is comprised primarily of interior offices allowing open window line for workstations and collaboration areas. The café was specifically designed with access to the best views. The layout also encourages community engagement with long communal tables, lounge areas and meeting booths that encourage the use of the café for meetings and gatherings throughout the day. Technology is integrated to allow for remote staff to participate seamlessly in office activities.
The result is a beautiful combination of natural light, stunning views, and classic materials with a modern twist. The design is a testament to Northeast Bank's commitment to providing its customers with the best possible banking experience and its employees with an inspiring place to succeed

As the most trusted streaming company in the world, Brightcove prioritized an innovative, technology focused design approach. The new Fort Point global headquarters exudes creative energy with a down-to-earth, inviting, and inclusive atmosphere. Although technology is at the forefront, Fusion none the less sought to create a forward-thinking space that highlights key features of the industrial brick and beam shell.
The 6th floor reception area is anchored by a media wall made up of 9 large video displays that showcase Brightcove’s impressive technologies. Custom wall murals at select open collaborative spaces also echo Brightcove’s brand. As a juxtaposition to branding and technology- warm, natural, and inviting materials were used throughout enclosed meeting spaces. As Collaboration and teamwork are fundamental to how Brightcove functions, Fusion located numerous enclosed meeting rooms and open collaboration spaces are across both floors to encourage staff to move from their seats and foster engagement and creativity.
Interior enclosed rooms on the 7th floor are constructed as partial height “huts” which create privacy but allow the large volume of space to shine. As the top floor, large skylights flood the space with natural light, creating a comfortable and inspiring environment for staff.
The main hub of the office is the 7th floor café space. It is flexible enough to host all hands meetings, and with different types of seating and a fun, creative environment it also encourages employees to utilize this space as another destination to work, meet or collaborate throughout the day.
The focal point of the café is the oversized seating niche backdropped by a large custom mural commissioned from a local Boston artist. Its message reads “You Belong Here” – a fitting statement that truly captures the overall spirit of Brightcove’s culture and the tone of the office design.

The recently completed renovations to Wellesley Gateway focused on repositioning and rebranding this existing suburban office building. Fusion’s designs created new amenity spaces and the concept introduced hospitality-inspired elements throughout the design of these new spaces. The Lounge and informal meeting spaces were created utilizing varying furniture styles, decorative lighting, area rugs, custom millwork and wallcoverings to create interesting and comfortable spaces. The new Coffee Bar amenity was designed featuring graphic walls and millwork details to enhance the brand and identity of Wellesley Gateway. An existing Café was also enhanced with new lighting, flooring and furniture that created a central focus within the space while endeavoring to draw the eye to the inviting outdoor patio space.
Custom graphics and branding were also incorporated into the Fitness Center to create a sense of energy and exhilaration. The existing common areas received new signage and wayfinding as well - designed to enhance the brand, assist clients and visitors and maintain the vibrant identity throughout.

The recently completed common area renovations at One & Two Tech Drive have transformed once dark and dated buildings into light, modern and vibrant gathering spaces in keeping with the repositioning goals of the campus.
For One Tech, the team sought to establish a project vision that highlighted the natural light within the common areas and took material inspiration from the natural setting of the campus.
The elevator shaft is the major focal point with rich wood cladding and accent lighting greeting the visitor as they walk through the main entrance. A new sculptural staircase connects to the second floor and anchors a new grab-and-go kiosk. Various new seating areas in the lobby provide distinctive zones for meeting and socializing.
The renovation at Two Tech includes a refresh of the existing lobby with new art, furniture and a complementary finish palette. The biggest impact is the renovated cafe, including a new large glass wall that provides maximum visibility from the lobby.

Endurance International Group sought out Fusion Design Consultants for the 1st floor expansion of their headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts. EIG originally occupied the top two floors of their building and this project was an opportunity to expand Endurance International Group’s workspace as well as create a new main entry area that highlights EIG’s culture from the moment one walks through the door.
In addition to enhancing EIG’s brand, a major goal for this renovation was flexibility. The space lacked a place to suitably hold “all hands meetings”, so the new lobby design was an opportunity to integrate custom stadium seating that serves to gather the entire company together and also provide space for small groups to informally meet.
Instead of traditional seating and a boardroom, the lobby space features a vibrant coffee bar and garage-door fronted conference room, both elements speaking to EIG’s culture and workforce demographic.
A new custom staircase surrounded by banquette seating and highlighted by bold copper pendants creates a vital link between the first and second floors. The resulting effect of all these design elements is a cohesive and vibrant workplace that inspires and represents EIG’s energetic and collaborative culture.

Combining Reality with Something Magical.
The Fantastical is a brand advertising agency that occupies the entire fourth floor of the iconic Yankee Publishing Building located in Haymarket Square. Fusion designed a space that includes
30 dramatic chandeliers, bamboo hardwood floors, chair rails throughout, and an oversized dining room table made from refurbished doors to create an eclectic residential feel.
More than ever it is crucial for today's office space to reflect the personality of its inhabitants. It was clear to Fusion's design team that The Fantasticals creative team is fueled by "unrestrained imagination," which led to a unique design solution that supported and motivated their inventive work philosophy.
Due to restrictions of the historical building and the desire to maintain the open floor plan, Fusion created floor-to-ceiling screens made from conduit piping, which are the design highlight of the space. The screens provide power and privacy for each workstation, while still allowing light to filter through them. The industrial screens provide a dramatic juxtaposition with the elegant chandeliers that populate the exposed ceilings, giving the space a refined yet edgy personality.

MORSE Corp, a technology company located in Cambridge, aimed to move into a new office space of 4,000 SF that would clearly reflect their mission and identity. With this in mind, Fusion created a unique, innovative workplace with a cohesive and creative design that stood apart from other surrounding tech companies. Openness and maximizing natural light were vital goals from the beginning, as the generous window line offers stellar views across the Charles River to Boston. Minimal buildout, exposed painted deck, and glass fronts allowed for these goals to be achieved throughout the project.
The MORSE-blue and other associated brand colors were significant factors in selecting the finishes for the project, with splashes of the blue used in flooring, glass, paint, and custom cabinetry. The main entrance is designed as the centerpiece of the office, using the dramatic angled wood slat ceiling cloud mirrored by blue vinyl-woven flooring, both connected vertically on each end by blue glass. The blue glass panels repeat within each enclosed lounge-like meeting room and are used as markerboards for MORSE’s frequent brainstorming and working sessions.
The finishes, lighting, and spatial layout come together to create a bright, energetic, and dynamic design that reflects the impactful and enthusiastic spirit of this unique company.

One Source for Attracting New Talent.
One of the primary goals of Fusion's renovation of Avention's existing office space, was to create an environment that supported the company's initiative for attracting new talent. This was accomplished through an exciting and bold palette of new finishes, as well as careful space planning efforts that encouraged collaboration and interaction between staff members.
The company was undergoing a re-branding effort concurrent with the design process, so the project served as a logical canvas on which to display new branding efforts and graphic material.
The project was also designed with flexibility in mind. With anticipated growth, Fusion utilized architectural wall systems in key transitional spaces so that department footprints could be adjusted and expanded as necessary.
As Avention’s objective was to attract new talent, Fusion needed to assure their space would accommodate the anticipated growth and would be viable and relevant into the future. The goal of encouraging collaboration and synergy within the staff was realized by the new space planning that was far more dynamic and efficient.

The emergence of the digital media workplace!
Pandora Media’s new sales office in downtown Boston demonstrates our expertise in interior design and furniture and finish specification in a prototypical digital media workplace. Fusion provided complete design services for Pandora Media’s local office, including interior design that focused on a free and fluid work space.
The program mainly called for open work space, with more private meeting and call rooms for employee interactions or private conversations. By situating all the workstations on the interior perimeter of the space we allowed natural light to fill the office and stunning views of the city to be seen. One of the design features Fusion created is built in window seats located around the perimeter windows.
It was very important to the client to show city pride and portray concepts of music in a high-energy space designed to motivate the company’s sales team. One of the ways Fusion conveyed Boston’s rich musical history was in designing private meeting rooms, dubbed “sound studios”, that provide an escape from the music streaming throughout the open office space. The larger meeting rooms are named after Boston music venues such as Great Woods, The Garden and Fenway – some quintessential area landmarks.

Cornering the Market.
Fusion was selected by Commercial Real Estate firm NAI Hunneman to re-envision their existing Boston headquarters. The goal was to create a newly energized space to impress visitors and clients, as well as to attract new, young talent.
A primary goal was to create additional meeting and collaborative space without greatly impacting existing office and workstation layout. Beyond this, bringing natural light into the space and maximizing the suite’s impressive views was an important element to the design. The resulting space includes an efficient yet impactful entry, a wide variety of conference rooms and a large open pantry/meeting space that fosters interaction and collaboration among staff.

A bright dose of local color.
Fusion worked closely with Blackbaud to determine the best workplace strategy for their transition to a predominantly open space plan. The suite was designed to maximize atrium and exterior views and create an open and vibrant workspace for all employees. The centerpiece of the suite is the café. Its extensive water views and patio access, expansive island bar top, striking pendant fixtures and bold finishes come together to create a dramatic gathering space.
Blackbaud’s vision is to power an ecosystem of good that builds a better world. Fusion’s vision was to power their office ecosystem and therefore, employees, to build a better working environment. The modern, clean and airy layout is the perfect backdrop for bright colors and “Boston inspired” custom graphics, all echoing the fundamentals of Blackbaud’s corporate identity.
Adding a bit of color to their ‘green’ image was the perfect solution to helping this non-profit find their corporate voice and brand. Fusion is always able to find that perfect note to make your business sing.

Situated in the iconic Boston Harbor Hotel, the Visitor’s Center was designed as a community space with multiple uses. The challenge was to program the space in a way that would be multi-functional. Movable partitions and flexible furniture arrangements allowed this space to be transformed from an open gathering area to a private meeting space in seconds.
The design inspiration was taken from the harbor itself, abstracted and modernized. The ceiling and walls are a nod to the undulating waves in the harbor; dynamic angles in the ceiling and walls transform typically flat surfaces into something that not only represents the water but also calls out the concept of the space itself, always moving and changing. A custom cut woven vinyl flooring showcases an outline of the Boston coastline and a custom glass backsplash takes cue from the sunlit water of the harbor itself.

Peeling Back the Years
Fusion worked with Paradigm Properties, a commercial real estate developer and property management firm, to design their Boston office. Paradigm had recently purchased the building ― 101 Tremont ― and wanted to create a flexible, collaborative headquarters.
The building, located in a historic area adjacent to the Boston Common, was in need of some attention. After years of previous alterations, much of the historic appeal of the building was completely hidden. The existing drywall and dropped ceilings were peeled away to expose beautiful finished ceilings, brick and even exposed steel columns. The design and finishes were selected to compliment and highlight the integrity of these classic features.
Fusion’s design features a central café space directly off of the main entrance to act as a hub for all Paradigm's employees. The placement of this hub reflects the notion that Paradigm embraces and encourages employee collaboration ― a strong image of who they are as a company. This large space allows multiple meetings to happen simultaneously and is also used for office wide events as well as industry events hosted by Paradigm.

Fusion partnered with Reward Gateway on their new Boston office, the first North American office for the London based consulting firm. We were tasked with translating London design into US standards – encompassing dimensions, codes, lighting standards and more.
As experts in “Employee Engagement Consulting”, Reward Gateway wanted every aspect of their office to reflect their own mantra of “let’s make the world a better place to work.” This very progressive company wanted to make the space as inclusive and universal as possible – while also striving for LEED accreditation.
Every detail from their London office was meticulously re-created within the 5,000 SF space with gorgeous views overlooking Boston Common. The open collaborative office environment is colorful and energetic and provides staff many different work environments such as individual study rooms, open lounge, modern work “booths” and even an Old English library room complete with Victorian wallpaper, tin ceiling and fireplace. A podcast recording studio brings in a very modern touch and adds the “Bostonian” flair to the “London” aura.
Fusion worked closely with the project team, which included Avison Young, to coordinate specialty lighting, a custom “spa like” restroom and audio visual and kitchen amenities. The resulting space is a highly unique and dynamic office environment. Every last detail of the space is thoughtfully executed, highlighting Reward Gateway’s mission to increase employee engagement through a nurturing and amenity rich workplace.

Fusion was engaged by Takeda Pharmaceuticals to renovate two existing office floors at their Cambridge headquarters, totaling 60,000 SF. Like other renovations on campus, a major design goal was to create a more open and collaborative office space. Perimeter offices and high panel workstations were replaced with interior spaces representing glass fronts and efficient yet minimal workstations, maximizing daylight and views.
From the onset, Fusion maintained a strong design concept that was inspired by Takeda's corporate philosophy, "Takeda-ism", and the art of origami to pull through Takeda’s Japanese heritage. The idea of creating space through folding, and a floor plan that fosters collaboration and sharing informed many design decisions ranging from lighting, wall treatments, fabrics and film.
The focal point of each floor is the central cafe space. Crafted from a series of faceted drywall and glass partitions wrapped in wood, the space is a dynamic gathering space with seating and breakout areas that extend into the open areas.
The end result is a bright, open, dynamic and free flowing layout that encourages collaboration and innovation in keeping with Takeda's mission and company values.

The best blend of old and new.
Originally known as the Fargo Building, Meritage Properties enlisted Fusion Design Consultants Inc. to reposition 451D Street. The design included a lobby and cafe refresh and a new tenant amenity lounge.
It was important to the client to pay homage to the structure's roots in Boston and the buildings architectural style - Renaissance Revival. In addition to the redesigned lobby, our designers incorporated an abstract of South Boston’s coastline with an overlaid map of Boston’s Seaport dating back to 1942, when the building served as an Army induction facility during World War II. The interior wall graphic inside the lounge is an abstracted, custom colored photograph of the building’s facade.
The goal for this renovation was to keep the best of the old, incorporate great new elements, enhance the entire tenant experience and upgrade and refresh the building’s brand.

CBRE contracted Fusion on behalf of their tenant Workable, who was moving from a smaller office in a brick-and-beam building in Fort Point, to a full floor of a high-rise in the Financial District. Fusion was tasked with designing a space that spoke to Workable’s brand, nodded to their European values, and inspired the employees of their fast-growing company.
Workable’s style resonated well with the industrial look that was inherent in their previous office. Fusion accomplished this with exposed concrete floors and open ceilings in the reception and large café area. The carpets selected for the suite are reminiscent of textiles, and the doors of offices and conference rooms are a light stained wood. The café area hosts a large custom island designed to function seamlessly for daily catered lunches. Fusion selected an eclectic collection of furniture pieces from a variety of vendors to create an industrial chic vibe in the café, collaborative areas and the executive offices. The 360-degree view of the city is enhanced by the dark colored exterior walls, and all enclosed rooms feature full glass fronts to maximize natural daylight throughout the space.
As soon as you step off the elevator, you are surrounded by Workable blue and a collection of icons. Blinker, the graphic division of Fusion, designed custom wall graphics throughout the space that integrate Workable’s brand colors, logo, and icons used in their standard marketing materials. In the café, Blinker designed a custom calendar wall with chalkboard pieces for the Workable team to note holidays, birthdays, special events, and the daily lunch menu. The graphics throughout the space truly enhance the design by identifying the company as a brand and reinforcing their values.

Synergy Investments reached out to Fusion on behalf of their tenant, Nexamp, who was moving from a smaller 2 floor space in Liberty Square. Nexamp is a fast growing leader in the energy field providing clean solar-powered energy to communities along with significant savings to electricity costs. This design project provided an exciting new opportunity for the solar energy experts to create a space that was environmentally friendly, aligned with their company culture and provided a space they could grow into.
Their new two floors on Summer Street began as a shell space with historic brick and beam left exposed. Fusion and Nexamp wanted to maintain and highlight the classic Boston architecture through the use of simplistic lighting, wood floors, glass, metal looking ceilings and angled walls to play off of the exterior shape of the building. As you enter the space, you are welcomed by a large pantry with a long island, a lounge and a gaming area. Your focus then moves to a refinished interconnecting stair with an industrial railing, a comfortable seating area and a coffee bar at the top, which esthetically connects the two floors. Nexamp wanted quieter areas for employees to work, but also envisioned fun lounges nearby for camaraderie, engagement and diversion. The remaining open office areas are simple yet modern with breakout areas for collaboration and team-work and phone booths for more quiet, undisturbed conversations.
Nexamp has been committed to bringing affordable clean energy to our communities for years and merits a productive, fun and engaging workspace to continue making a positive impact on our environment.

Jobcase’s mission is about connecting people, communities, and companies alike, empowering these groups to achieve their professional goals and giving a voice and support to a large part of our working world. From its inception, the office design was meant to reflect this idea of connection while accomplishing three main goals: capture the spirit of Jobcase through creative use of space and finishes, create collaborative and varying types of workspaces, and maintain a professional yet welcoming office design to customers and new talent.
The project includes a new team gathering café with a custom stage and kitchen, with a wood-look path that bends and cuts through the entire office, from the café, through the 6th, and finally to the 7th floor. The edges of the ceilings follow this wood path, breaking apart at points to reveal exposed painted deck and decorative fixtures. The custom graphics in the project are designed to showcase the faces, thoughts, and dreams of real-life Jobcase users, celebrating their relationship with Jobcase and the working world. The fluidity of architectural details, interactive graphic walls, flexible furniture, and physical architectural routes through the office connecting key spaces all come together to clearly represent what Jobcase stands for: the user.

Takeda Pharmaceutical's new office at 20 Sidney was formally a Shaw's grocery store that came with its own set of design challenges. These included a deep floor plate, a wall of no windows, a connecting parking garage and a conjoined hotel. Some of the benefits of the space were the open typical-shaped floor plan and the high ceilings.
Originally meant to be a flex office space for Takeda, this project evolved into a full office space for their Oncology department that expands across two floors. The first floor is designed to be a dedicated conference space for the campus that is flexible and accommodates multiple types of meetings and banquet style functions. A small café and catering room are included to accommodate and support larger events. The first floor is divided by an existing neighboring hotel into two separate sections - one that includes the conference center, café and catering room and the other consisting of the lobby and reception area.
The connecting staircase which brings you from the lobby to the second floor was added along with two large cafés on the second floor and multiple types of meeting and conference rooms. The remaining second-floor plan is dedicated to open office and workstations that accommodate 290 employees.
Both Takeda and Fusion wanted to create a unique design that considered the nature of the space and the existing conditions. The team decided that the best aesthetic approach should pursue an industrial look including dark flooring, reclaimed wood, exposed ceiling and an overall grey pallet.
During the test-fit planning phase, the second-floor office layout included two large circulation pathways connecting each public area in the space (the staircases, vestibules, and cafes). The large circulation pathways are defined by architectural wood elements and support wayfinding throughout the second floor as well as defining where the open offices would fit in the design. Takeda wanted an open floor plan, but to avoid having a sea of workstations, Fusion broke down the floor plate by adding groupings of phone, huddle and conference rooms. These groups help to break down the vastness of the second floor and make the space more manageable for employees.
Throughout the project, there was a large focus on the deep floor plate and making sure light would flow through the space. Fusion developed a 'hut' system with dropped VIA walls to create the illusion that light is passing through the office. Ceiling clouds also drop from the open ceiling to bring scale to the space and allow for acoustic separation from the exposed ceiling above. The result is a complete transformation from a supermarket to a modern, comfortable, and design-forward office space.

The Optum Ventures group prides themselves not only on their professionalism as a company but also on their passion and motivation as a team. Optum wanted their new office space to reflect both their diligent and collaborative nature as well as their welcoming and comfortable vibe. With plush furniture, textured materials and refined finishes, the Optum space greets teammates and guests alike with a bright freshness that is immediately apparent upon entry.
From the beginning stages, the office design has maintained the vision of having a choice of workspace, with multiple types of collaboration areas, conference rooms and breakout spaces. These areas, combined with the residential-style private offices and café, come together as a place for conducting productive business or enjoying casual leisure.
There are many opportunities for the Optum office to stand out through custom design details, including the floating wood-veneer baffles in open ceiling areas, the hot-rolled steel panels with custom signage, the unique millwork reception desk and the elegant cabinetry. Fusion, Optum Ventures, and the rest of the team brought different degrees of expertise, savvy and taste to the table to create a distinguished, unique and successful office design.

Fusion Design Consultants Inc. was engaged by Skyhook for the relocation of their office to a 4th floor 7,469 SF suite in the Seaport. Skyhook is a global location network that specializes in location technology and intelligence.
A key goal of the project was to create a flexible and functional space that supports collaboration but also provides privacy. We accomplished this by creating an open office with three large conference rooms, private phone booths and flexible collaboration areas.
The project began as a shell space with exposed brick and beam that we incorporated into the final design to highlight and accentuate the classic Boston architecture.
Skyhook's new space features a large café and lounge area complete with a ping-pong table to encourage camaraderie and interaction among employees. The open office is covered with idea-paint walls accented with Skyhook branding, a mix of sit and stand workstations and large windows that let in plenty of natural light.
The result is the perfect mix of classic Boston architecture and modern design.

When entering the building, you encounter the lobby, where we removed the existing staircase that connected the 1st and 2nd floors. This helped to create an open and more spacious room. We gave the lobby a Southwestern, industrial vibe to create a warm and more inviting feel as opposed to the previous corporate look. The moss was added to the elevator walls to liven up with additional color and greenery into the space.
After walking through the lobby, you reach the full-service café. We decreased the size of the seating area in the café after conducting a survey that found the current size to be too large for the current traffic and therefore an inefficient use of space. The café, as well as the lobby, received upgraded seating to accommodate diverse needs ranging from meetings and remote work to eating lunch and socializing. At the back of the café, we created a TV niche and seating area enhanced with a lower in-look ceiling and a large wall graphic to evoke a boutique feel. We also completed a cosmetic refresh in the serving area adding new finishes, lighting, and updated millwork. The overall design has a mix of finishes that come together to create a modern, efficient and welcoming space.

For this project in Concord, MA, the Fusion team worked alongside CBRE and Chenega Applied Solutions to deliver a fresh, modern office design for this specific end-user. The goal of the project was to provide an open, welcoming reception and café area, bookended by productive and efficient workspaces. The challenge was to meet a specific headcount via workstations while simultaneously providing pockets of collaboration and breakout space throughout.
The expansive café and presentation space include flexible touchdown areas, breakout booths and specialty lounge seating locations, including raised platforms with glass partitions for use as writable surfaces. The café is at the heart of the floor plate, tying the two open office wings together and bringing all users to one hub to meet, eat, or relax away from their desks. The café doubles as an all-hands meeting area and is outfitted with necessary presentation equipment for large groups, including speakers, video conferencing and screen share capabilities.
The glass fronts, wall graphics, and finishes create a cohesive design intent: to connect two seemingly-separated spaces by drawing them together in the center. The wood flooring stretches outward from this central café, widening at the two sides to form creative huddle areas at each. These pockets not only break up the clusters and rows of workstations but also function as productive work lounges for groups or individual focused work.
The most compelling and outstanding facet of this project is the presence of choice – end users of any type have multiple diverse areas to work quietly, meet with each other or simply take a break.

Fusion Design Consultants, Inc. worked closely with Hinckley Allen on the re-stack and expansion of their existing Boston Headquarters. Inspired by the office’s amazing views of downtown Boston and the harbor, the newly finished space is bright, modern and airy while still maintaining the timeless and professional atmosphere of an established law firm.
A key goal of the project was increasing meeting space, which we accomplished by designing a more efficient layout. By restructuring the room sizes, the design now allows for increased conference seat count as well as additional informal meeting areas. A trio of spaces adjacent to reception was fit-out to be flexible, multi-use spaces that can transform from separate meeting rooms to one large meeting space or can be fully opened up for office social functions.
Since the project was a mix of finish refresh and new construction, certain elements were determined to remain. Perhaps most dramatic was the finish refresh of the existing elevator lobby. We applied bright white paint to the existing dark woodwork, and with the introduction of new lighting and finishes, the lobby is now an elegant and welcoming first impression of Hinckley Allen’s timeless new office space.

We redesigned this lobby with the intent of creating a more welcoming public space for the building's tenants. Our initial goal was to have interactive seating available for tenants to use as open meeting and gathering areas. To accomplish our goal, we split the lobby into three areas consisting of a formal conference room, informal meeting area, and a soft seating lounge.
A new feature wall along the existing staircase was designed to connect the first and second floor while also bringing attention to the double-height atrium space. Meeting and lounge areas are filled with feature lighting, decorative inset carpet, and a variety of furniture solutions that give the space a light and modern feel.

Simon-Kucher sought out Fusion to design their office space at their new location in downtown Boston. The office is in the heart of Boston and has expansive 360-degree views of the city. An important goal of this project was to design a space with bold personality and that reflects their company culture. Understanding that Simon-Kucher values collaboration and team spirit, we created a large café to encourage camaraderie and act as a central gathering place for employees.
The design aesthetic of the office works as an important factor in attracting, retaining and engaging new talent. Simon-Kucher was drawn to a warm, neutral color palette with industrial elements inspired by their other offices around the world. We added color and energy into the design with accents such as wallcoverings in the huddle rooms and blue barstools in the cafe. They also prefer the look of clean lines and dark accents throughout the office which we accomplished by using a dark grey paint on the ceilings and installing glass wall systems with black frames.
Simon-Kucher wanted their office to create a sense of belonging among their employees. We accomplished this goal by dividing the large floor plate into four neighborhoods each consisting of open-office style workstations, private offices, meeting rooms and a floating huddle room. We installed video conferencing capabilities in all meeting and conference rooms to support communication between all their offices around the world.

We designed TA Realty’s new corporate headquarters in the heart of Boston with expansive 360-degree views of the city. An important goal of the project was to design a space that reflects their company culture. Understanding the importance of collaboration and team spirit, we created a large café to encourage camaraderie. As the design has a strong focus on wellbeing and employee experience, we teamed with our professional partners to guide the team through relevant trends, workplace strategy and thought leadership to execute this project through the pandemic.
The design aesthetic of the office helps in attracting, retaining and engaging new talent. The client was drawn to a high-quality warm, neutral color palette with modern elements. Color and custom graphics were integrated into the design with accents such as wallcoverings, signage and branding to enhance their corporate brand.
We took advantage of natural light while maintaining a high number of private offices and meeting rooms. Glass wall systems allow light to filter into the interior spaces on the floor. The efficient footprint of the private offices was achieved through creative furniture planning. Open, informal meeting areas are located around the floor with a variety of furnishings to allow for choice of workstyle, which also encourages meetings and collaboration to happen naturally throughout the day. Video conferencing capabilities in all meeting and conference rooms to support communication between all of their office and client locations.
Working closely with the executive team, we reimagined our client’s brand and aesthetic, creatively integrating their mission into the architecture. The team worked collaboratively and creatively to execute the project entirely during the pandemic, and the end result has proven to be successful with the client’s team eager to return to their newly designed office.

When originally approached by Bridge Investment Group for a full building repositioning at 1200 Crown Colony Drive, the overarching mantra was to create a narrative of place. The resulting design not only transformed a tired 1980’s era building into a modern workplace, but also tells the story of the rich history of Quincy through architectural enhancements, materials, textures, accessories and graphics.
The history of Quincy’s shipbuilding and granite quarries is echoed in the main atrium’s new stonework, riveted column details, and custom metal coffee bar. A custom truss system was added to the atrium space to reduce the scale and create a feeling of intimacy above new stadium seating, and is also a nod to the underbelly of a ship’s construction. The colonial history of Quincy inspired a modern ‘fireplace’ hearth in the main café. Rich textiles and a wide variety of furniture enhance the café and create a ‘living room’ feel that will facilitate both socialization and employee collaboration.
The main lobby, elevator lobby, common areas, café, fitness center and locker rooms where were completely renovated with clean, contemporary finishes that speak to the area’s past but position the property as a modern workplace. Our team enhanced the design with custom graphics throughout the premises. Historical photographs of Quincy shipyards flank the elevator lobby, and the café area’s banquette seating is highlighted with historic railroad drawings that are screen printed on wood panels. Custom metal and wood shelving in the café space houses artifacts inspired by colonial history such as portraits of John and Abigail Adams.
The repositioning of 1200 Crown Colony Drive creates a truly unique office building experience unlike anything in Greater Boston. The building’s modern amenities and new technologies are designed to attract new innovative companies who will add a new story to the region’s rich history.

Brought onboard by Cushman & Wakefield, Fusion worked with Pri-Med to design a new office that would be unique to their needs. The challenge was their existing office layout and design didn’t resonate with their company image so a whole new look was needed. The team emphasized a desire for light, airy open spaces with a touch of sophistication and warmth that encouraged a sense of home for their headquarters.
Located between Newbury and Boylston streets, each side of the building had a great view of downtown. To maximize the amount of light in the space, offices and meeting spaces were pulled away from the window lines. Workstations were divided into teams that had its own unique collaboration area as an alternate work space. Utilizing the rich architecture, the bay windows provided perfect nooks for individual focus time. The café was tucked away towards the back as a hub removed from the open floor plate to create a cozy space for eating, meeting, and connecting. An adjacent conference room equipped with a motorized garage door allows this space to become an large meeting area with AV equipment.
Mixed metal accents at the glass fronts, hardware, decorative lighting, and furniture provided a layer of sophistication. Using wood through millwork, flooring and furniture provided warmth to the neutral textures of the carpets. Color was thoughtfully used in fun ways with wallcovering and ancillary furniture fabric. Faux brick walls complimented the Boston brick aesthetic completed with photography that encompassed their brand. Throughout the space, awards and recognitions were placed to display their proud history. Designed and built during a pandemic, Pri-Med is eager to fully start living in their new home.

Leading the pack with its mission to modernize the healthcare financial experience, this global technology healthcare company partnered with Fusion to design its new, modern executive headquarters in Boston’s Back Bay.
The overarching design goal was to create a classic space with a modern feel. Fusion combined traditional elements indicative of the historical location along with modern forms and materials. The result is a space that balances high-end luxury with modern amenities.
Client goals to address collaboration and community influenced design at all levels. The entry experience sets the space’s tone with a striking onyx slab anchoring the custom reception desk. Drawing on the stone’s color, the overall palette is a cohesive blend of warm and cool. Next, an open coffee bar with a large island creates a central space for teams to gather. The conference room boasts a foldable glass wall, allowing these two spaces to be used as one larger space for both community gatherings and formal board meetings. Before the private workspaces is a semi-private collaborative lounge. The workstation zone is central and defined by a dramatic ribbon-like custom light fixture. Glass front private offices flank the open office area to maximize natural light and encourage open communication.
Equally important to the client and Fusion was fostering a connection to the community.
Artlifting, whose mission supports artists with housing insecurities as well as members of the disabled community, was selected as a partner to bring the community into the workplace. Their mission is one of opportunity and empowerment, and the space provides a platform for artists to showcase and sell their work.
The resulting space, as a whole, supports and inspires both the client’s brand as vision, and engages the larger community in a truly impactful way.

Fusion was given the opportunity to team with a repeat client to design their global headquarters. As a healthcare technology company that prides itself on transforming the business of healthcare, they also wanted to transform how their team utilizes the modern office. With team members located all over the world, the motto ‘the office is the new off-site’ was developed. As a result, Fusion designed an office that prioritizes community engagement by incorporating features for both local and traveling employees.
The large floorplan was designed with main avenues leading to 8 distinct neighborhoods. The avenues have unique ‘portals’ designed with custom wall graphics, lighting and branding as feature elements. Each neighborhood is comprised of touch-down workstations, flexible private offices, wellness rooms, and call rooms that can all be utilized by staff to tailor their work experience to their specific individual needs.
A central element of the space is a large café providing space for company-wide gatherings. State of the art audio-visual system as well as stadium seating allows in person and virtual connection for staff to participate in all hands meetings.
The corporate brand colors and messaging was integrated throughout the space with the use of creative architectural finishes. Warm wood tones, beautiful and efficient lighting, glass front offices and meeting rooms and accent colors strike a balance of energy and calm.
The result is a new corporate headquarters that is not only a place to come to work, but a place to collaborate and form community relationships with coworkers.

As with many of its holdings around Greater Boston, Foxrock Properties’ efforts to re-imagine the lobby of 176 Federal Street embraced local storytelling and sought to create a vibrant unique experience for existing and new tenants. Keeping this at the forefront, the final design of the new lobby balances the building’s historic architecture with modern fittings and a truly unique palette.
As part of a set of “jewel box” office buildings downtown, 176 Federal Street exemplifies beautiful turn of the century architectural details but is perhaps best known for its parakeets that have graced the lobby for a long time.
These residents were a unique springboard for a design concept that married classical detailing with flamboyant, horticulturally inspired colors and patterns.
Entering the lobby is entering a different world. The space is bright and airy, and despite the classical pilasters, marble floors and framed wall panels, it is playful and fun. The entry lobby space is highlighted by a luxurious banquette, a seating niche with antiqued mirror and a dramatic pair of guest chairs. Large pendant fixtures inspired by perched birds create a sense of intimacy within the space.
The iconic resident parakeets were relocated to a new, larger home that is immediately seen when entering the lobby. This, along with a double height wood clad elevator wall, vibrant wall mural and a custom hand knot rug create an overarching sense of tranquility away from the busy world outside.
