Project Manager II
Job Location: Boston, MA
Project Manager Level II will bring a solid level of industry and project management experience to manage day to day production on a variety of specific projects to meet deadlines accurately within set project fees. This is a lead role on projects and is viewed as a mid-level of Project Manager. Individuals should have at least 3-7 years relevant project management experience. This is a Project Management position and as such carries great responsibility with regard to managing projects, budgets, fees, clients, staff, contractors and consultants. This individuals’ direct report is Project Manager Level III (Senior PM), Associate or Principal of the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Composition of project proposals for principal review
- Development of programming documents pertaining to specific projects
- Take an active role with team on defining project scope, schedule, fee and expectations
- Understand and assist with compiling outlined project milestones
- Oversee and assist with production of test fit plans, design development documents, construction drawings and other project related documents
- Responsible for overseeing project fees and time allocation
- Arrange client meetings and set expectations and deliverables
- Review shop drawings for project compliance
- Review submittals for project compliance
- Document code review and compliance
- Communicate and coordinate with management, client, consultants, and contractors related to daily project and business operations
- Guide, support and manage Level I project managers, Level I, II and III Project Designer duties to ensure accurate preparation of project design, construction documents and communication with consultants, contractors and team members
- Understand and manage project costs for construction, furniture and materials etc.
- Provide internal review of client invoices
- Contribute to office activities, initiatives and learning programs
- Participate in business development and marketing efforts both with existing relationships and new opportunities
- Identify major issues facing clients and serve as a significant thought leader in the development of design and implementation solutions
- Develop conclusions and strategic recommendations, write reports, and assist with client presentations.
- Serve as a task lead for projects by managing delivery and client relationships
- Support implementation activities and interact with client personnel and senior leadership to accomplish project objectives and achieve sustainable results
- Maintain and implement interior design standards content documentation in Fusion Design Consultants, Inc. standards.
- Maintain project folders within Fusion Design Consultants, Inc. standards
Experience and Qualifications:
- Individuals should have at least 3-7 years relevant project management experience
- Undergraduate or advanced degree in Architecture, Interior Design or a relevant field of study.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office. Accounting and Project Management Software skills a plus!
- Experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy
- Must have excellent graphic, written and verbal communication skills and possess a strong desire to excel and lead in a fast paced, challenging and client focused environment
- Solid knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures
- Ability to manage a design team with a collaborative leadership style which puts value on relationships, both internal and external as well as ensures high quality design and detailing
- Strong leadership, organization, verbal and written communication and relationship management skills
- Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and actively search out new business opportunities for Fusion Design Consultants, Inc.
- Ability to develop and complete projects with minimal continued supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively in presentations and interviews
- In depth knowledge of interior construction, architectural/interior finishes, lighting, signage, color, materials and furniture to carry out design intent
- Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate and coordinate with contractors, consultants and clients on site to resolve project construction issues in a cost effective, code compliant method
- Ability to understand all aspects of project construction administration as it pertains to the agreement in place, the contract documents and the specific actions and documentation required at each juncture.
